Ahead of the 2018 Bet9jaSociaLiga final, there is no team as strong as Mainland Conference champions, Bravos Knights, according to their head coach, Alabi Kazeem.
Kazeem said this in response to a similar claim by his star defender, Adebayo Abdullahi, during his pre-match press conference monitored by thesocialiga.com.
“They [Dannaz] are a strong side, but I think we are slightly stronger,” Abdullahi said earlier on Wednesday.
In his response, the tactical Kazeem, who paid tribute to the side his Bravos team will be facing on Sunday, agreed with his defender that his side is indeed the strongest in the Liga.
“Definitely,” he said. “I would never say any team is stronger than my team. I’m sure you wouldn’t expect me to say they are stronger than my team. We are obviously stronger, that’s my sentiment.”
Island champions, Dannaz football club, will fight it out with their counterparts from the Mainland, Bravos Knights, to determine who is crowned the new kings of the Bet9jaSociaLiga on Sunday at the 2018 XmasFestival.
It will be the first competitive meeting between the two SociaLiga giants but despite their claims to be stronger, Kazeem is not expecting an easy game from the Liga debutants.
“Unofficially we have met twice, this match just carries more importance. We are expecting a lot of technical football, short passes and pacy wingers, and great playmakers are what they have. We will try our best.”
The encounter on Sunday will be the first time Bravos Knights will have a chance to stake a claim at the title, after narrowly missing out in 2017, an opportunity their managers says shows how much the club has grown.
“It feels good [to be in the final],” he added. “A place in the finals means we have grown over the course of the year.”
So, how prepared are Bravos Knights for what has been described as a win by all cost match for them? Kazeem concludes like this;
“Preparations are going wonderfully and thankfully, we don’t have injuries. We are determined [and] we hope it is enough for glory.”
