The 2018 Bet9jaSociaLiga playoffs lived up to its hype as Bravos Knights and SCN Ladies booked their places in the grand finale following a brilliant day of football at the Vocational Center in Isheri, Magodo, on Saturday. Bravos defeated Raineri 4-1 in the Mainland Coneference while SCN reaffirmed their superiority over defending champions, Saints Ladies, in the Women’s Liga with a penalty shootout win.
Joshua Obakimi may have been the front runner for the League MVP award when the season started but Raineri Ghost’s Olisemeka Esumeh’s late push for the award can no longer be ignored. With 5 goals scored in 4 matchdays in a row, Olisemeka Esumeh had already set the SociaLiga record for goals scored in a consecutive matchdays (4) beating Emmanuel Eze (Royals, 2016) and Joshua Obakimi’s (Dannaz, 2018) joint record of 3.
All Black would have to put on their most perfect SociaLiga performance yet to have a chance of making the playoffs. Not only do they have to beat Raineri, they have to do so by a 4 goal margin. All Black have an unusual advantage, however. While they do not have a reliable goal threat, they have 7 players all on a goal each. Makes them a little bit hard to predict.
