Socialiga debutants, Alimosho FC, are set to face a baptism of fire as they go up against 2-time SociaLiga Champions, Saints FC. Alimosho are poised to make their mark on The SociaLiga but they face an uphill task starting the season against a team with the pedigree that Saints have. Saints are still reeling from losing their SociaLiga crown in unimpressive fashion last season and they have been ringing the changes, from management down to players.
This is the first ever meeting between the two sides, and it will be interesting to see how they fare against each other in their season opener.
Not much is known about Alimosho FC but a lot has been heard about them. Their physicality is expected to be a problem as well as their supreme fitness levels. Their combativeness in midfield is, especially, a strong point that opponents need to be wary of as they press and hassle relentlessly.
Saints FC are known to be a result-oriented team. There’s no better definition of “the end justifies the means” than Saints. They win games without necessarily being impressive or playing the opponent off the park. What they are good at is being efficient. All they need is a chance or two. In spite of that, they do have a solid team full of players that can turn on the style anytime and hurt teams.
The key battle will likely happen in midfield. A relentless midfield will go up against a Saints midfield three who have an almost telepathic understanding. While Alimosho will focus on winning the battle through relentless pressing, Saints will likely rely on quick interplay and quick counter attacks funneled through the middle to the flanks. It will be an interesting game to see.
