The Citizens handed shocking 2-1 defeat of the high flying Dannaz team that quickly changed the mood and atmosphere around the club, with everyone associated with the Citizens very optimistic for the first time in the season after being rock bottom in the Island Conference with zero points from a possible nine and just one goal scored after three matches.
In a remarkable turn of events, Knights would go on to pick just one point from a possible nine in their next three matches, a shocking fall from grace to grass from the 2016 winners, who once again lost to Saints Ladies, before dropping four more points against Bravos Ladies.
After a heroic performance from goalkeeper, Esther, Knights Ladies were crowned Queens of the Bet9jaSociaLiga female league for the second time at CIS Lekki. Her team mate, Anita, superbly scored the only goal of the game but it was the goalkeeper who proved very decisive as they reclaimed the title they lost last year to Saints Ladies. Watch them celebrate their victory!
It was indeed a keenly contested encounter under a very sunny weather and an electrifying atmosphere provided by the spectators during the grand finale which lived up to its pre-match hype at the magnificent Children’s International School stadium in Lekki Phase one, Lagos. Onyeka gave Dannaz an early lead when he converted from the spot, but that goal only lasted few minutes as Saka Godspower drew Bravos level with a superb effort from 20yards.
