Egba City continued their impressive run in the ALAT SociaLiga after reaching the final in their first-ever appearance in the competition. City defeated the defending champions, Saints, 4-3 on penalties to book a date in the 2021 finale against Dannaz.

Both sides couldn’t be separated after two hours of football at the Digital Bridge Institute as the match ended goalless after extra time. Egba went on to seal the win via penalty shootout to ensure that there will be a new LigaSFL champion at the end of the season.

The City Hawks were the better of the two teams for most parts of the game and created some of the better chances as well. However, the team from Abeokuta were unable to find a way past the Femi-led back four Saints,
whose best player in the game was Yahaya.

The talented Yahaya also created the Saints’ best chance in normal time but his teammate and striker, Clauzee, failed to do justice to his excellent cross late in the game.

In extra time, it was all Saints as the most decorated side in LigaSFL piled on the pressure in search of the elusive winner which never came. They also met a brilliant Egba goalkeeper, who proved to be a bulwark in the posts as he saved their every move. In the end, the game went into a penalty shootout where Egba City held their nerve to win 4-3 and verify their ticket to the grand finale.
