Bet9ja, Liga, Match Reports, SociaLiga, SociaLiga Season 4, What We Learned

#SociaLigaMD6 produced a lot of fireworks and we saw plenty of goals fly in from different angles on a largely eventful day at CIS. So, surely, it is time to take a cursory look at what we learned from that entertainment served at matchday six (6) in the Bet9jaSociaLiga.

Rain free day, Uju the Angel and all We Learned

It may have been a day of few chances which resulted in a few goals as well, but SociaLigaMD8 has come and gone.

While it was eventful for some teams, for others it left a rather bitter pill to swallow and more questions than they really would be able to provide answers for.

However, for us here at, here are some of the things we learnt from the SociaLigaMD8 held at the Legacy Pitch inside the National Stadium in Surulere on September 28.

Rain-free day at the Legacy Pitch

The SociaLigaMD8 would have been the last matchday of the regular season but no thanks to the clouds, some games scheduled for SociaLigaMD7 was postponed due to a heavy downpour at the Legacy Pitch.

But it was different weather last Saturday, as the clouds and heavens did us a favour by guarding their fiery all day. The Bet9jaSociaLiga enjoyed a rain-free day as activities lined up for MD8 went as expected and planned.

Let's be honest, we must do thanksgiving because we really couldn't have afforded another postponement.

Uju the Angel saves Saints Ladies from thrashing

What we are about to say is something you must trust us for- we promise, it's no joke.

Former Champions, Saints Ladies crashed out of the 2019 Bet9jaSociaLiga season after they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Alimosho Ladies.

But that's not the story, the story is that the scoreline does not tell the whole story as it indeed flattered the Saints Ladies.

This much we can confirm was down to one woman and her alone, an angel in between the Saints sticks - Uju Angel.

She was like her name says, an Angel for the Saints as she made over 10 saves to ensure the scoreline remained respectable for the one-time winners.

Single-handedly stopping a rampaging Herd, Angel proved to be the big difference and saviour for her poor side following her woman of the match performance.

Dannaz, Alimosho Ladies finish unbeaten

The Herd will look to lift the title this time after narrowly losing to Knights Ladies in the final last season.

Defending champions of the Men's Liga, Dannaz Football Club, and 2018 Women's finalists, Alimosho Ladies, have qualified for the playoffs and finals without losing a game respectively.

Dannaz, who still have a game in hand, coincidently defeated the Boys of Alimosho FC 2-0 to book their place alongside league leaders, Saints FC.

For Alimosho Ladies, a 2-0 victory over Saints Ladies on MD8 confirmed another ticket to the Women's final without losing a game this time.

Playoff spots down to just two

The Bet9jaSociaLiga is getting more interesting, which of these teams will pick the two available spots come this Sunday?

Come this Sunday, only two of Guns, Citizens, Raineri, Cubs, Royals and Alimosho will join the duo of Saints and Dannaz in the playoff.

Already Saints and Dannaz have picked two of four available tickets with just two spots left to fight for.

Four rescheduled SociaLigaMD7 will be this weekend with six clubs vying for just two playoff spots.

It's all to play for in the Men's Liga when the Bet9jaSociaLiga returns on Sunday to the Legacy Pitch for its final round of matches.
