Ahead of Match Day 2 in the Bet9jaSociaLiga, thesocialiga.com caught up and had an interesting chat with Dannaz Ladies star player, Blessing Emefile.
Emefile and Dannaz started life in the Liga with relative ease, much like their male counterparts in the 2018 season, by seeing off former champions, Saints Ladies, on Match Day 1, MD1.
The youngster scored one and assisted the second as Dannaz kicked off their debut season with a 2-0 win over Saints at CIS.
Speaking to thesocialiga.com during one of their training sessions at Opebi Primary School, Emefile shared three interesting things about herself and also talked about their game against Alimosho Ladies on Match Day 2, MD2
“My favourite player is Cristiano Ronaldo, ” she began. “He has the passion (for the game), faces challenges, and I (also) love his goal sense and mentality. I like Asisat Oshoala, too.
There are so many football players who are bipedal, but for Emefile, while she ranks as one of them, hers is quite peculiar- she scores with just her left foot.
“The surprise is, I usually play with my right (foot) but I do score with the left. Every goal (I have scored) is with my left (foot). For this year, I have not scored with my right.”
Well, that explains her first ever SociaLiga goal. Emefile opened the scoring for Dannaz Ladies on MD1 with a well-struck left-footed low drive into the bottom right corner against Saints Ladies.
It is very easy to identify Emefile on the pitch as she stands out from the sea of players with her Army themed bandana.
“Whenever I put on that bandana and (you) see it is Army colour, I feel bold, like a warrior on the pitch (smiles).”
So, when next you attend a SociaLiga Match Day, watch out for the young lady wearing a bandana.
There you have it, three things about the budding Bet9jaSociaLiga Women’s Liga star, Blessing Emefile.
We asked Emefile about her debut on MD1, and the game against Alimosho on MD2.
As earlier stated, Dannaz made their Liga debut on MD1 with our player focus, Emefile, in brilliant form as she inspired her side to an easy win Saints Ladies.
So, what did Emefile make of her performance and their eventually win?
“It was so fantastic, ” she said. “I played with all my passion and belief in that game. I felt good (scoring that goal) and especially given that we also won.”
Up next for Emefile and her teammates is a difficult encounter against Alimosho Ladies on MD2.
That game is certainly one of the ties of MD2, and while it will be difficult for Emefile and Dannaz to see off the obdurate and skilful Alimosho side, she believes they still will come out victorious.
“I expect victory for us (Dannaz), ” she added. “We have a plan for that game and we are working on it. I believe we will win.”
That game is the third match of MD2 after Citizens against Alimosho, and the game between the Cubs and Guns.
