Knights FC vs Cubs FC (Island Conference Fixture)
Knights missed a huge chance to seal an Island Conference playoff spot after a 3-0 loss to Saints last time out. With Saints and Cubs already qualified from this conference, there’s just one more spot left up for grabs. While Knights are firmly in the driver’s seat, a huge upset could be on the cards if they slip in this game with Guns lurking around to snatch that spot in a dramatic final day of the Regular Season. Knights’ attacker, Jibril Momoh (@gbril_elnino) has carried his team on his back scoring 4 of his team’s 5 goals and will be key in this crucial fixture for the Knights. Cubs, on the hand, have sealed qualification for the playoffs but they’re a team of fighters and would be looking to revenge their 1-0 Matchday 5 loss to Knights a month ago.
Saints FC vs Guns FC (Island Conference Fixture)
Saints have been the crème de la crème of The SociaLiga over the past 2 seasons & their 18-game unbeaten run is solid proof of that. They face Guns in a rematch of Matchday 1 when they triumphed 3-1 with Tolu Benson (@__Tolu) making a memorable league debut for The Army with 2 goals and an assist. Since then, Saints have gone on to win 6 more games while drawing 2 in 8 games and they currently sit on the top of the Island Conference with a record 23pts, an impressive 8pts clear of 2nd place Cubs. For bottom of the table Guns, they MUST do what no other team has been able to do if they want to make the playoffs; they MUST defeat Saints. It’s that simple for them.
Bravos Ladies vs Saints Ladies (Female League)
Bravos Ladies are still in search of their very first SociaLiga goal & a wounded Saints Ladies team stand in their way of grabbing this. After 2 losses and a draw, they’re joint bottom of the table and would need a massive result in this fixture to give life to their fast wilting season. Saints Ladies have been in convincing form this season & their 8 goals in 3 games is still a SociaLiga record in the Female League. A loss to Knights Ladies last matchday may have damped their moods but Babalola Chuchu & Ijamilusi Folashade who are both locked on 2 goals each would be looking to make amends for that slip.
Citizens FC vs All Black FC (Mainland Conference Fixture)
Pride wrapped up in 3pts are up for grabs when these two teams face each other on Matchday 7. It’s a game between the two teams rooted at the bottom of the Mainland Conference & both teams would want to give their fans and, indeed, themselves something to cheer about as they bow out of the season. Both teams previously met on Matchday 2 and All Black grabbed the win courtesy an own goal from Citizens’ center-back, Yusuf Mohammed who should be looking to make amends for his error.
Bravos Knights FC vs Royals FC (Mainland Conference Fixture)
Both Bravos Knights and Royals may have qualified for the playoffs but you can bet your bottom dollar that both teams will be taking this game very seriously. The Bravos Knights and Royals rivalry may have overtaken the Saints and Knights rivalry as the biggest in The SociaLiga and with both teams currently sitting 1st and 2nd place in the Mainland Conference, many people feel this could be a dress-rehearsal for the Mainland Conference Championship Game in November. These two teams clashed on Matchday 2 with Francis Kellor Smith scoring the only goal of the game as Bravos Knights picked up a win. After a slow start to the season, Royals have picked up form at with 3 wins and a draw in their last 4 games so we could be in for a different outcome when these two teams take to the pitch.
Knights Ladies vs Cubs Ladies (Female League)
Knights Ladies remain the only team in SociaLiga history yet to lose a game and yes, no male team has that record. They’ve won 6 out of their 7 SociaLiga games and that includes a 1-0 victory in the Finals of the SociaLiga Female Championship against Cubs Ladies in December and are in need of just 1 more win to make the finals for the second season in a row and defend their title. Cubs Ladies are still looking for their first SociaLiga goal & victory since Kemi’s goal gave them a 1-0 win over Saints Ladies last year October. They’ve suffered 2 defeats this season, including a 5-0 hammering by Saints Ladies, and face an uphill battle to make the finals. If there ever was a game for the Foundation Cup holders to turn their season around, it’s now.
Raineri Ghost FC vs Alphas FC (Inter-Conference Fixture)
Raineri Ghost and Alphas have had different starts to life in their debut season in the SociaLiga. For Raineri Ghost, they overcame a slow start to the season to make the playoff in the Mainland Conference, thanks to a collective team effort led by Shahin Alawam (@shahinbenzema1) and his 5 goals. Alphas have picked up just 1 win in 9 games and are only ahead of bottom of table Guns on head-to-head on the Island Conference. The game presents Raineri Ghost with a chance to tactically experiment ahead of the playoffs while for Alphas, a win would be a good way to end what has been a hugely disappointing season for them.
Guns FC vs Knights FC (Island Conference)
Depending on the outcomes of earlier games (say, a win for Cubs over Knights and a win for Guns over Saints), this game could be the most fiercely contested Regular Season game in SociaLiga history. Both Guns and Knights have 2 games left in the season but Knights are, of course, 4pts ahead of Guns on the log. Guns have 6pts from 8 games so far this season and they’ll be required to amass those same points-total in just 2 games; a big ask but not an impossible one. When both teams met earlier in the season, a perfectly struck freekick by Jibril Momoh (@gbril_elnino) put Knights 1-0 ahead but a brace from Ariyo Abdulahi (@Don4NinoBrown) gave Guns a comeback win; their only win of the season.
