Saints FC has been punished by the Football League for again failing to control their players on 8th July in the game against Dannaz FC. During the game, a call made by the referee, Mr. Babatunde Gbenga was met with disapproval by the Saints FC players and after full time, Mr. Babatunde Gbenga was physically abused by Saints FC player, Mr. Clever Orlu, despite the attempts of team mates & other match officials to restrain him while Saints FC team captain, Mr. Hassan Azeez and Mr. Aturu Olaoluwa verbally abused the referee.
These acts are totally unacceptable by The SociaLiga and, upon thorough assessment, The Football League has handed Saints FC a N50,000 for failing to control its players for the second matchday in a row. Mr. Hassan Azeez and Mr. Aturu Olaoluwa have both been handed one (1) game bans while Mr. Clever Orlu has been handed a life ban from the league which includes a ban from future SociaLiga events. The Football League has informed Saints FC that a third act of failing to control players will result in possible point(s) deduction.
